Where efficiency, excellence, and a positive environment meet

What Does a Surgical Assistant Do?

A surgical assistant is someone who has surgical assisting experience in various surgical procedures. In essence, a surgical assist is someone who can help promote efficiency in most surgical procedures.

Their roles consist of but are not limited to: assisting the OR staff, patient positioning, holding retractors, manipulating tissue with surgical instruments, and suturing. Each surgical procedure may require the surgical assist to have a different set of surgical skills based on the surgery being performed.

Please note, everything performed by the surgical assist is under direct supervision and approval of the surgeon and may be required in order to maximize the efficacy of the surgical procedure.
